Hailing from a small town on the outskirts of Munich, CAIVA is a name you are about to hear a lot more of. As inspired by finger-picking folk guitar as she is nineties techno and classical jazz, CAIVA unites these influences under a whirlpool aesthetic.
In many ways, Take Me Higher is the artist’s ultimate melting pot. Taking in the learnings of Erik Satie’s avant-garde, Johnny Flynn’s folk, the field recordings of Cosmo Sheldrake and the emotional techno of Moderat and Trudge, CAIVA’s Lobster Theremin debut is so much more than an unrelenting cut of techno. Peel back the layers of the sequence to reveal the depth of inspiration; a cut of trance-like techno that maintains the ghostly infatuation of the best contemporary folk - an oxymoronic blend of sadness and euphoria.
